President Muhammadu Buhari has finally signed the electoral act amendment bill into law.

A signing ceremony was held at the federal executive council (FEC) chamber in the presidential villa in Abuja on Friday. Senate President Ahmad Lawan, Femi Gbajabiamila, speaker of the house of representatives, and Kayode Fayemi, chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) are among the dignitaries present at the ceremony. The legislation was transmitted to the president on January 31 after both chambers of the national assembly had reworked it. Buhari had initially rejected the bill after the national assembly made direct primary compulsory for political parties in the country. The president said the provision “violates the spirit of democracy”. It was on that basis the senate and house of representatives reworked the bill to provide for indirect and direct primary, as well as consensus candidates. Governor Darius Ishaku has approved the appointment of Aku Uka of Wukari

Press Release   His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Taraba State Arc. Darius Dickson Ishaku has approved the appointment of Elder Manu Ishaku Adda Ali as the new Aku uka Wukari.  Elder Manu Ishaku Adda Ali who is of the Bama dynasty and son of the twenty third Aku uka late Manu Adda Ali,succeeds the immediate past Monarch late Dr Shekarau Angyu Massaibi kuvyon the second.  The appointment of the new Aku uka followed his unanimous selection by the king makers in accordance with the Jukun traditional and cultural procedures to fill the vacuum created by the death of the former Monarch in November, 2021.  Elder Manu Ishaku Adda Ali is now the twenty fifth Aku uka of the great kwararafa kingdom.
