Supreme Court fixes March 12 for judgment in ex-Gov Dariye’s appeal.

Dariye is, by his appeal, praying the Supreme Court to upturn the November 16, 20218 judgment of the Court of Appeal, Abuja, which convicted him and sentenced him to 10 years for diverting public funds estimated at N1.162billion while he was the governor. A three-man panel of the Court of Appeal, led by Justice Stephen Adah, in its decision, upheld an earlier judgement by Justice Adebukola Banjoko of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), delivered on June 12, 2018.

500 TARABA YOUTHS TO ACQUIRE SKILLS UNDER MAMBILLA HYDRO POWER PROJECT, PROGRAMME TO BE EXTENDED TO ALL STATES OF THE FEDERATION.

Minister of power Engr.Saleh Mamman, on Saturday, in Jalingo, inaugurated a Youths Empowerment and Skills Acquisition Training (YESAT) for 500 youths in Taraba. The empowerment and skills acquisition programme is under the Mambilla Hydroelectric Power Project (MHEPP) Local Content Initiative. Speaking at the event, Mamman said the programme was a collaboration of the power ministry and the National Power Training Institute of Nigeria (NAPTIN) aimed at addressing MHEPP’s manpower development needs, and to adequately prepare host communities and the entire state, to derive maximum benefits from the project. Notorious Criminal in Tella Taraba state, Shot Dead By Unknown Gunmen.

A notorious criminal, Salihu Zakari popularly known as “Kinkon” was on Monday night shot dead by unknown gunmen in Tella village, Gassol local government area of Taraba state. Salihu Zakari was said to have been terrorising Sabongida and Tella axis for the past ten years and was responsible for the kidnapping and death of several innocent citizens in Gassol local government. A source in Tella village told our correspondent that Kinkon met his Waterloo at about 9. pm on Monday night when some unidentified persons allegedly called him on phone to meet them somewhere in Tell village. The source further said “Kinkon ” was on his way to meet his callers at about 9.00 pm when he was suddenly shot from behind by the unknown gunmen close to NKST Church area in Tella village. According to the source, Kinkon was said to have been rushed to Tella maternity clinic by some Youths in the village but died later. Kinkon was also said to have served several jail terms in Mutum-biyu and Jalingo prisons

4/12/2020 3:45pm Budget The executive Governor of Taraba State Darius Dickson Ishaku has presented the budget of over one hundred and thirty nine billion naira for twenty twenty one fiscal year.  Presenting the budget which is an annual ritual that usher in the next fiscal year was tagged budget of restoration and stabilization.  Darius Dickson Ishaku said the twenty twenty one budget is guided by some microeconomic variables which includes international oil price benchmark of forty dollar per barrel, inflation rate of eleven point nine five percent and GDP growth of three percent among others.  He said in the twenty twenty one proposed budget the government budgeted the sum of over one hundred and sixty eight billion lower than the twenty twenty approved budget.  Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku said it also represents a decrease of over seven billion lower than the twenty twenty approved amended budget. BREAKING: Police Arrest Nasarawa APC Chairman’s Killer

Police have arrested the suspected killer and the notorious kidnapper of the Nasarawa state chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Philip Tatari Shekwo. WITHIN NIGERIA reported that the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa state, Philip Shekwo who was abducted by armed men has been found dead. This was disclosed by the state governor, Abdullahi Sule on Tuesday in Lafia at the job fair programme. The federal government has increased the National Social Investment Programmes (NSIP), comprising the Home-Grown School Feeding Programme (HGSFP), Job Creation Unit (N-Power), Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) and Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (GEEP), to accommodate more beneficiaries. The minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajia Sadiya Umar Farouq, stated this Monday in Abuja during a ministerial press briefing.   While listing achievements of the ministry since its creation in August last year, Farouq said that the increase in the number of beneficiaries is in line with plans of President Muhammadu Buhari to lift 100 million Nigerians out of poverty in the next ten years.
