Mambilla: Taraba leaders converge in Abuja *Darius: "Buhari is serious about project"

Top leaders from Taraba state converged on Abuja, Tuesday, to discuss the way forward in the realisation of the Mambilla Hydropower dam. In his remarks at the event held in Transcorp Hilton,  Taraba state helmsman, Governor Darius Ishaku said he organised the sensitization meeting to demonstrate the state's readiness to support the various initiatives of the ministry of power. He stressed that he was impressed with the determination of the Federal government in carrying out the project.  He noted further that the appointment of a Minister of Power from Taraba state was a very important decision in the realisation of the dream.

Ishaku implored the federal government to ensure that Taraba State benefits from from the project.

He said the sensitization committee will ensure that communities buy into the projects by agreeing to be compensated and relocated. According to him the dam will impact on agriculture, tourism and other aspect of the lives of the people.

Pledging the unalloyed support of his administration, Ishaku said road construction to the site of the project is ongoing.

Earlier in his remarks the minister of power, Engr. Sale Mamman, said the President has ensured everything is in place to ensure the project is actualised.

The sensitization meeting was attended by traditional rulers, political leaders and members of the Taraba executive council. Also in attendance are Senators Yusuf A Yusuf (Taraba Central), Senator Shuaibu Lau (Taraba North), Reps. David Fuah. Others are Speaker of the Taraba state House of Assembly, Dr. Alkinjo Joseph, the minister of state, Power, Goddy Jedy Agba, and former TUC boss, Bobboi Kaigama.
