Bandits Blew up church in mutum Biyu, taraba state.

Mutum-biyu community on Sunday night were thrown into panic as explosive device believed to have been planted by bandits blew off Catholic Chapel of Saint John’s College, Mutum-Biyu in Gassol local government.

Our Correspondent who is in Mutum-biyu reports that no life was lost, but the Church buildings have been destroyed by the explosion.

Speaking with our correspondent on the urgly situation, the Chief of Mutum-biyu in Gassol Local Government, Kachalla Sani Suleiman Duna condemned in strong time the attack of the Catholic Chapel of Saint John’s College by bandits and called on religious leaders and community to seat up to their responsibility by reporting any suspicious movement to the appropriate authority for action.

Also speaking the Parish priest  Saint John’s College reverend Father Joachim Luka said the explosion went off at about 7:20 pm, after the youths and some students holds programme in the Chapel which doubled as the school hall and had left the premises shortly before the explosion occurred.

Father Joachim called on the community and security operatives to carryout a proper investigation to unravel those behind the attack and the perpetrators brought to book.

Resident in saint John's college, Isaac Simon told our Correspondent that insecurity has become the major problem in Mutum-biyu now that worship centers have become tha target of bandits and called for adequate majors to be taken by security operatives in ensuring the security of the citizenry.

Meanwhile, about 10 minutes after the explosion in Saint John’s Catholic College, bandits engaged Mutum-biyu community with gunshots trying to do away with the owner of Nurula filling station which leads to sporadically shootings in Mutum-biyu town some minutes after the explosion.

Speaking on the attack, the Taraba State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abdullahi Usman, said they have beef up intelligent security operatives in Mutum-biyu to bring the perpetrators book.

At the time of filing this report, activities have picked up and are going normal in Mutum Biyu the headquarters of Gassol local government area of Taraba state.
